Dog - A Warm Heart & A Wagging Tail

The little dog
carried in Paris Hilton's handbag is unlikely to be a
mixed breed mutt dog. But, then again, maybe it is likely. More and more
celebrities are choosing to add mutts to their household. And Paris is
well-known in her desire to be at the very forefront of the latest and
best trend.
Jennifer Anniston has several mutts as does Glenn Close.
Doris Day has long been a friend and champion of all canines, including
the mixed breed mutt . And President Kennedy shared Camelot with a
canine of mixed genetics. But, celebrity approval is not the main
attraction of a mixed breed.
Mutts share
the same good qualities as many of their purebred
cousins.
And, just like their purebred cousins, these qualities largely
depend upon the breed of the animal. Breeds such as Golden Retrievers
and Labrador Retrievers tend to be gentle, even tempered and great with
children. So, it stands to reason that any mutt sharing a heritage with
these breeds will likely also be a great family pet.
- Of course, anytime
when adding a new pet to the household, it is important to take time to
become acquainted with the animal and expose it to the children slowly
and only in the presence of an adult. No matter how gentle an animal
seems, sometimes due to past issues and unkind treatment, it may
display agressiveness. This is usually due to fear but better to be
safe than sorry.
- Also, just like their purebred cousins, mutts
require much
thought in regards to health care, quality food, sturdy toys and
shelter.
But the number one ingredient that the purebred and mixed breed mutt
share is their need for lots of love and care from their family. When
this final ingredient is supplied in generous amounts, your mutt dog
will return to you an equally generous amount of love, devotion and
unending loyalty.

The intelligence of a Poodle and the loyalty of a Lassie. The bark of a
Shepherd and the heart of a Saint Bernard. The spots of a Dalmatian,
the size of a Schnauzer, and the speed of a Greyhound. A genuine,
All-American Mutt has it all.
